When you're on the move and packing light, the Scout Series Compact Binoculars from Carson provide efficient optical quality in a small, easily packed size. The Scout Series binoculars are available in 3 unique sizes. The MiniScout (JD-718) is an ultra compact 7x18mm binocular that is small enough to fit inside the palm of your hand. Weighing only 4.5 ounces, the MiniScout binoculars (JD-718) are extremely lightweight and very portable. The Scout (JD-822) is an 8x22mm binocular that offers a little more magnification and a wider objective lens than the MiniScout model. Weighing only 6 ounces, the Scout (JD-822) is also extremely lightweight and compact. The ScoutPlus (JD-025) is the largest version of the group weighing 9.9 ounces but also offers the highest magnification at 10x25mm. A center focus knob on all 3 models offers detailed clarity adjustment, and the independent right diopter adjustment lets you fine-tune the device for surprisingly crisp viewing. All 3 Scout Series models all feature fully coated, BK-7 prisms for sharp, crisp and bright images. The field of view ranges between each model: 489 ft. at 1,000 yards (JD-718), 393 ft. at 1,000 yards (JD-822) and 342 ft. at 1,000 yards (JD-025). These binoculars are particularly well-suited for hiking, camping, travel, sporting events, concerts, and other outdoor adventures. Have a question?

Our Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between compact, mini and full-size binoculars?

Compact binoculars prioritise portability and are convenient for travel, concerts and casual daytime viewing. Full-size binoculars generally have larger objective lenses and can offer better low-light performance, depending on the optical design, but are often heavier. For example, the store lists Vision King 10×26 compact binoculars, which suit buyers prioritising portability. Compare their specifications with larger 8×40 or 10×42 models if brightness and extended viewing matter more.

What are the best binoculars for camping, hiking and travelling?

For camping and hiking, balance magnification with weight, durability and ease of use. Compact 10×26 binoculars are convenient when luggage space matters, while 8×40 or 10×42 models may be more suitable for extended wildlife observation. A monocular is another lightweight option for occasional viewing. Consider weather resistance and whether you will need to use the optics at dawn or dusk before deciding which size to carry.

What are compact binoculars best for?

Travel, hiking, concerts, sporting events, sightseeing and keeping in the car or a daypack. Anywhere weight and size matter more than low-light performance.

What are the best binoculars for concerts, sporting events and theatre performances?

For concerts and sporting events, compact binoculars with around 6× to 10× magnification are often practical. Lower magnification makes it easier to follow fast-moving action or view a wider area, while higher magnification brings distant performers closer. The best choice depends on your seat, viewing distance and lighting. Check venue rules concerning optical equipment and choose a lightweight model if you will be carrying it throughout the event.

Will they fit in a pocket?

Many will fit in a jacket pocket or small bag, especially folding models. Check the dimensions and weight in each product's specs.

Can I use binoculars or a monocular with glasses?

Yes, provided the model offers enough eye relief for comfortable viewing with glasses. Eye relief determines how far your eyes can sit from the eyepiece while retaining the full field of view. Adjustable or twist-up eyecups can help accommodate different users. Some Binocular Store models, including the Vision King 10×26, specify 18 mm of eye relief and twist-up eyecups. Always verify the specifications of your chosen model.

How long does delivery take, and can I return it?

Orders are processed within 24–72 hours and usually arrive within 6–15 days, depending on your location. You have 30 days from receiving your item to request a return. It must be unused and in its original packaging. To start a return, email sales@bchretail.com.
